Not the impressive valet-clad entrance enthralled in laser lights and paparazzi cameras like Billionaire, it's a softer mood at least on the outside of Sottovento with its white rod iron gate and aged marquee that could use a little updating. But few ever notice those details, arriving well-after midnight to a packed house of dance lovers looking for a revolving line-up of international DJs as well as periodic drop-ins by celebrities like Bono, Denzel Washington and Shaggy.
Inside Sottovento, a colorful collection of painted-plaster walls feels equal parts medieval circus and genie bottle with bright red upholstery, gold tables and arched ceiling supported by purple-painted pillars. A separate restaurant offers late-night dining from 9pm with a menu of traditional Italian specialties in addition to a seasonal raw bar. Outside, a small lounge is conducive to overflow dance crowd and smokers in need of a fresh-air refuge.
Tips
Sottovento offers a VIP dance and supper club located hidden inside Porto Cervo’s Gulf del Pervero.
Last Word
In a town known for its one major VIP nightclub in August, namely Billionaire, it’s a not an easy feat to remain in competition for one season let alone 30-years.
